With the proliferation of cloud computing platforms, wireless communications, and low power semiconductor devices along with low cost sensor technology, it is now possible to capture data at very high rates and accuracy and send this data via various networks to a central cloud computing system for storage, processing and analytics. One of the key components of an IoT communication system is a gateway device that transcodes and forwards data from edge-nodes to servers on the cloud. The gateway could communicate with edge-nodes over one or more wired or wireless networks. An Intelligent IoT gateway will provide additional local services to devices that are connected to it. Services like device discovery, device management, security, clustering and reliability when provided by the gateway can address some of the challenges faced by large scale IoT deployments.

Low Footprint BLE Stack

BLE is a wireless Personal Area Network (PAN) technology designed and marketed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) aimed at applications in the healthcare, fitness, security, and home entertainment industries where low power wireless transmission with long battery life are required.
GlobalEdge’s BLE Single Mode Host Stack is a small footprint software stack that is easily portable to a wide range of embedded devices. This stack is compliant to Bluetooth Specification version 4.0 adopted by Bluetooth SIG.

It is interesting to look back at how wireless networking has advanced over the years.WiFi has always been about what comes next, both out of the antennas and under the hood. The serial2WiFi Adapter from GlobalEdge is a compact, low power and cost effective solution that can be used to provide Wi-Fi capability to any device with a serial interface. This Serial2WiFi Adapter from GlobalEdge is based on the Wi2Wi SiP. This Adapter can be used to add Wi-Fi support to any 8/16/32 bit controller that has a serial UART interface making it easy to integrate into legacy embedded systems. It can also be used in a cable replacement mode with existing systems where the serial data from either end is transmitted wirelessly and received as serial data at the other end.

USB-over-WiFi
